SPAIN FA ROW - CONTRAVERSIAL "YES" OR "NO"

I am regular supporter of women's football. Last year, I watched nearly every home game of the Women’s Chelsea FC team, because the men's Chelsea games were not worth watching at all - a complete disgrace!
Since the British lionesses won the EU Championship, Wembley has always been full when they are play. Similarly, as attitudes change around the EU, women’s football is filling the stadiums, attracting millions of viewers and finally getting the attention it deserves.
But it's not just bravura acting. Being a woman and playing football is, as the Colombian political scientist Sarah Castro Lizarazo wrote,” a political act”.
Therefore, when interpreting the triumph of the Spanish team at the recent World Cup, the social and cultural implications cannot be bypassed as is the case every time a woman conquers the fortresses which have long been male dominated.
The historicity of the moment would have been almost perfect, if the President of the Spanish Royal Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, had not spoilt it with his unacceptable macho behaviour- kissing the player, Jennifer Hermoso in the euphoria of the victory
This kiss on the mouth has completely overshadowed the historic moment in Spanish women's football- winning the title of world champions.
The international soccer body, FIFA, announced on Saturday that it had temporarily suspended Rubiales - for 90 days - pending the completion of their investigation.
But this is far from the end of the “Kiss affair”.
The UEFA president dr. Alexander Čeferin was very diplomatic; when the case was reported by the Spanish FA to UEFA, Čeferin passed the case to FIFA saying – “it is about your Vice President and the venue was for the World Women Championship, which was under FIFA and not UEFA".
Meanwhile, the Mother of Luis Rubiales has started a hunger strike – she’s refused to have any food and locked herself in a local church.
Rubiales has commented that he was about to propose marriage to Hermoso and that everyone has taken this kiss completely wrongly. He explains that firstly – it just happened in the euphoria of Spain winning; and secondly - he has been in love with her for quite some time.
The frenzy continues and five days later Jennifer Hermoso makes her statement.
“I want to make clear that not in any moment did the conversation occur that Mr Luis Rubiales references, and much less that his kiss was consensual.“
As far as I am aware, this is not the “first such kiss after the winning euphoria”. I have witnessed many similar situations at various world class sporting events including, football, skiing, windsurfing and surfing, tennis - and much of me felt initially it was NO BIG DEAL!
