MY FIRST PROFESSION WAS BEING A VET, A VERY GOOD ONE

People don't matter where I am, it doesn't matter what I do, I am asked again and again why I am having dogs like Kelpie and Labrador Retriever.
Well, being a vet my choice to all dog lovers would be to consider one of my choices of 8 dogs a family should have:
1. Australian Kelpie: They are amazing family dogs, fiercely loyal and 100% affectionate with their families. They always bond well with children and majority other animals if their massive physical energy and instinctual herding behaviour are properly managed. They are extremely intelligent, gentle and quiet.
Make no mistake, they are incredibly rewarding dogs if the owners have in mind that this is the breed working long hours and they can run up to 60km per day. Therefore you have to take kelpies out minimum 2-3 hours, they must not become bored and destructive. They have a natural drive to chase and control movement and they will hear everything. They are incredibly devoted and love being involved in all family activities. They don't like "strangers" and they might bark (very rarely) at them and show them their teeth's. They will do all to protect you and the family. They don't mind living in whatever situations, even urban homes, but don't forget they have to exercise.
Do I have kelpie? Of course I have for more than 20 years.
2. Labrador Retriever: They are amazing. They are sporting dogs, bigger the eg. Kelpies, always active and friendly and make them great family dogs. They like children and also other dogs if they knew them.
Do I have a Labrador Retriever? Of course I have, I have two (2), one beige and one dark brown - chocolate one. And they both are going superbly with my Kelpie. They only argue which bed is which.

3. Golden Retriever: It is fair to say that this breed is the most personal around. With its calm temperament they will be happy to socialise with everyone, even with other pets. My Kelpie did associate with Golden Retriever Barney. We were going out and about everywhere, on bus, on train, on tram, ... .They were simply amazing together. Sadly, Barney passed away, the years was there.
I am still missing him enormously.

4. Greyhound: They are also perfect for every family. As a breed they are affectionate, athletic, tempered, intelligent, gentle and quiet. Don't forget, they can run up to 75km/h. With a bit of patience with training, you will be amazed what you can achieve with them. The kids will love it, your wife will love it and you will be very proud on yourself.
5. Italian Greyhound: Italian Greyhounds get along with children, the elderly and people with disabilities, and can live happily with pets including cats. Also athletic, tempered, intelligent, gentle and quiet and they will get on bed where you are sleeping guaranteed.
They are really another lovely dogs for every family.

06. German Shepherd: German Shepherds can make excellent house dogs for active, dedicated owners. They are incredibly loyal, intelligent, and protective, but require substantial daily exercise of minimum 2 hours per day, consistent training, and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behavior indoors, make exceptional, vigilant watch dogs. They form deep bonds with their families. When properly socialized, they are patient and loving with children.

07. Dachshund: The Standard Long-Haired Dachshund is one breed that’s easy to have around. An unruffled demeanor and tons of energy means they’re up for any game you propose. Repeatedly. This is a breed that likes to have a job, and doesn’t mind helping you with yours. They are characteristically courageous and, ironically, have a big bark - even sounding like a big dog - for such a little breed.
08. Vizsla: Vizslas are wonderful, incredibly affectionate dogs, but they are not the right fit for everyone. They are highly intelligent, deeply loyal, and bond so closely with their families that they have earned the nickname "Velcro dogs". However, they possess very high energy levels and require a significant amount of daily exercise and mental stimulation. They like to be cuddled. They are gentle, loving, and do well with children. When you go to your bed, don't be surprised, the dog will follow you to your bed.
These two Romeo's are another dogs very adoptable to any kind of family, with or without the kids. However, they don't like cats much!

So, hope I was clear enough that you will be stop asking me about the dogs! You have my choice and recommendation, having in mind that I was working as a vet with 4 other colleagues of mine on centre for training police and army dogs. We have there in total around at all the time minimum of 620 dogs of which 80% German Shepard's, the rest was Šarplaninec dogs, Hovawart dogs and Doberman's.
So, do I know something about the dogs? Of course I do!
