WHY CATHY NEWMAN WAS GIVEN A JOB OF ALI FORTESCUE

When I was told that Sky News gave a job to Cathy Newman of Channel 4 I was stunned that Sky News took from naphthalene Cathy Newman to replace Ali Fortescue.
There is no comparison between Cathy and Ali and whatever we take in consideration Ali is still the clear winner.
Not just by education, not just by their looks, not either by their ages, there is one winner only, not just for me but also for a quite a lot of people I know: ALI FORTESCUE.
Few books that Cathy Newman wrote (It is my assumption that was written by her husband John O’Connell) cannot be a decisive factor as they have nothing to do with running the politics show like Politics Hub on top of which I could easily pass few of my books as being written by Ali Fortescue.
However, what is even more ridiculous for me was that Cathy Newman has quite a few on and off relationships of which two were even for the financial gains despite that she has been married to John since 2001 and apparently they have two daughters.
Make no mistake, Cathy Newman has been involved in several high-profile professional missteps and controversial broadcast moments throughout her career. The most prominent incidents include:
The 2015 Mosque Incident: Newman falsely claimed on Twitter that she was "ushered onto the street" for being female during a "Visit My Mosque" event at the South London Islamic Centre. CCTV footage later revealed she had mistakenly visited the wrong building, spoke briefly with someone inside, and left entirely on her own accord. After the mosque faced violent threats due to her tweets, Newman and her Channel 4 editor issued a full apology for the "misunderstanding".
The 2018 Jordan Peterson Interview: During a viral, 30-minute debate on the gender pay gap, Newman was widely criticised by media analysts and viewers for employing aggressive "straw man" tactics. Commentators noted she repeatedly tried to reframe Peterson's arguments using the phrase "So you're saying..." to make his points appear cartoonish rather than directly challenging his actual statements.
The 2020 Helen Whately Interview: Newman publicly admitted that she "misjudged the tone" during a highly aggressive, combative interview with the-Health Minister Helen Whately regarding COVID-19 testing. She later explained at the Edinburgh TV Festival that she was feeling deeply "angry" and emotional about pandemic coverage on that day, which compromised her usual journalistic neutrality.
There were other eleven (11) lapses Cathy Newman of which I am aware of Cathy Newman made, however, she redeemed herself a tiny bit in June 2026 when she locked horns in a very heated live interview with Robert Jenrick of Reform regarding a controversial immigration and tax policy. Representing Reform UK after defecting from the Conservatives, Jenrick strongly defended his party's pledge to penalise businesses hiring foreign workers and prioritize British citizens for tax cuts. The exchange quickly went viral across UK political media, driven by several sharp debate moments where Jenrick stated clearly “We are not a Hotel”.
Newman argued that the policy amounts to explicit discrimination based on national origin. She highlighted that many legal foreign workers made their homes in the UK under clear promises from previous governments.
Robert Jenrick rejected the accusation, arguing that a Chancellor of the Exchequer must put British citizens first (I was told about this not seeing live on TV as I am not following Cathy Newman at all).
Since the switch and Cathy Newman became Politics Hub presenter, I stopped watching Politics Hub as I cannot stand Cathy's looks, even less her choice of guests.
I know that Ali Fortescue is not everybody's cup of tea, however it is not just Ali's look but also how she presented each Politics Hub show was very much appealing and interesting to watch, rather than watching someone taken from naphthalene like Cathy Newman with her hairstyle is like looking at an old cocker spaniel (with all respect to Cocker Spaniel's).
I know that the honesty of Ali Fortescue is second to none on top of which she has not been involved in any scandals, not professionally as journalist and broadcaster nor in her private life, which is not the case with Cathy Newman.
Watching young, vibrant, spontaneous and full of charisma presenter Ali Fortescue was always a joy to watch and listen, while I turned my TV off since Cathy Newman overtake Politics Hub as her show on Sky. Shame on you Sky!
Ps: As I cannot stand to look at Chaty Newman the photo is of the Politics Hub and not her.
