DAVID CAMERON appointed as FOREIGN SECRETARY on 13 NOVEMBER 2023

Rishi Sunak’s Muppet Show goes on and on. Since he gave Suella Braverman a red card, he replaced the former Foreign Secretary as Home Office Secretary and guess what, as of Monday we have a new Foreign Secretary “one and only” David Cameron – apologies "Lord" Cameron.
There's been a lot of scrutiny of behaviour since being in government and now the focus is on China. You have to remember the last time David Cameron was really in the headlines in the UK was a couple of years ago with the Greensill scandal which is probably the biggest lobbying scandal we've seen in a couple of decades in the UK where he'd been lobbying former ministers over colleagues and friends.
Reports emerged that Cameron had lobbied former Chancellor of the Exchequer [currently prime minister] Rishi Sunak in 2020 to change rules in order to allow Greensill to join the Covid Corporate Financing Facility, a government loan scheme that was initiated to support companies during the pandemic-related economic recession, what Rishi did.
After Cameron left office Cameron engaged in a relationship with China to raise a billion dollars for his private equity firm. Moreover, the most important thing to mention about this is just last month it was being reported that David Cameron was talking up a significant port development in Sri Lanka and make no mistake, it's a Chinese owned business, it's completely wholly Chinese owned. Did David Cameron know about that at the time when he was making those statements about his involvement in all his old and new businesses? Of course, he knew!
David Cameron unfortunately has a history of being less than completely honest about his business interests since leaving office and I think this is one of the aspects that doesn't matter how much I would like to talk about this.
Make no mistake, David Cameron has been touting business around the world for the best part of a decade. There's a lot of these sort of stories and if I am not mistaken even both the FT and The Times are really trying to get deep under the skin of David Cameron's lobbying operation predicted as regards China and there's a lot of China hawks in the conservative party people like Ian Duncan Smith and others who would be very deeply uncomfortable about this and are already making noises and saying that he was wrong appointment because of all this.
So, what do we have now in the government for Foreign Secretary?
An Eton educated who even when he was a PM was never ever clear what he stood for. A person who was orchestrating one of the biggest lobbying scandals in the UK along with Rishi Sunak when he was Chancellor of Exchequer. A person who sold his soul to everyone just to gain money doesn't matter even if it is from communist China.
What did he share with Rishi Sunak apart from the Greensill scandal?
They are both smooth talkers and they both have a history not being honest at all.
Ps: Being the main brains for the biggest lobbying scandal in the UK - you get as reward the title "Lord" and you become Foreign Secretary - even easier to do the "private" business further but this time even on a bigger scale.
